The Thermomix® Blade Cover Plus is a multifunctional accessory for the TM5, TM6, and TM7. It allows peeling of raw vegetables, gentle sous-vide cooking in a water bath, and slow cooking while protecting your ingredients from the mixing blade. Using the Peeling Function
With Peeling Mode on TM7 and TM6
- Insert the Blade Cover Plus into the mixing bowl.
- Add between 200 and 800 g of vegetables (only one type at a time – e.g., potatoes, carrots, or beets) into the mixing bowl. The vegetables must be of uniform size – cut in half or quarters if necessary.
- Add 600 g of water.
- Optionally add 1 teaspoon of oil to prevent foam formation.
- Start the peeling mode and turn the dial to start the process.
- Drain the peeled vegetables into the steaming basket.
With Manual Settings on TM7, TM6, and TM5
- Insert the Blade Cover Plus into the mixing bowl.
- Add between 200 and 800 g of vegetables (only one type at a time) into the mixing bowl. The vegetables must be of uniform size – cut in half or quarters if necessary.
- Add 600 g of water.
- Optionally add 1 teaspoon of oil to prevent foam formation.
- Place the mixing bowl lid and measuring cup on. (TM5 note: If you use the older TM5 measuring cup, place the steaming basket on the lid instead to prevent the measuring cup from falling.)
- Set 4 min / speed 4 / clockwise / no heating.
- Drain the peeled vegetables into the steaming basket.
Tips for Peeling
- Recommendation: 4 minutes at speed 4 for potatoes. More delicate vegetables like carrots can be peeled for a shorter time.
- Adjust the time as needed (30 seconds to 6 minutes) to achieve the desired result.
- Tip: Place the steaming basket in a bowl to catch the peeling water – it is suitable for watering plants.
Sous-vide Cooking
With Sous-vide Mode on TM7 and TM6
- Insert the Blade Cover Plus into the mixing bowl.
- Briefly place the bag in the mixing bowl to check the water level. Remove the bag and add enough water so that the bag is fully covered – the water level must not exceed the “max” mark. Add 1 level tablespoon of ascorbic acid or 30 g of lemon juice to the water to prevent rusting of the blades.
- Place the mixing bowl lid and measuring cup on. Switch to sous-vide mode and set the desired temperature. Start the mode.
- Once the water reaches the desired cooking temperature, stop the mode and place the sealed vacuum bag in the mixing bowl. Replace lid and measuring cup.
- Start the sous-vide mode again and set cooking time and temperature. The cooking process begins.
With Manual Settings
- Insert the Blade Cover Plus into the mixing bowl.
- Pour the amount of water specified in the recipe into the mixing bowl. Briefly place the bag in to check the fill level and reduce the water amount if necessary. The water level must not exceed the “max” mark. Add 1 level tablespoon of ascorbic acid or 30 g of lemon juice to the water to prevent rusting. Remove the vacuum bag.
- Place lid and measuring cup on. Set the desired time and temperature. Activate counterclockwise rotation, maximum speed 1. The water will heat to the cooking temperature.
- Once the cooking temperature is reached, stop the mode. Place the sealed vacuum bag in the mixing bowl and replace lid and measuring cup.
- Set the desired cooking time and temperature. Activate counterclockwise rotation, maximum speed 1 again. The cooking process begins.
Slow Cooking
With Slow Cooking Mode on TM7 and TM6
- Insert the Blade Cover Plus into the mixing bowl.
